Ted gets a break in the shade.
We had a family hike out in the Death Pockets area to see if Ted could make it down into the big wash. He did very well with the rock scrambling but it was a bit too warm for him. We found a route down that he could make but decided we would come back on a cooler day to finish the expedition.

I was able to salvage a decent color version of the bend. As you can see, I had just enough angle to fit this massive formation in the frame. I need my other camera back before I can go out and shoot this again.
I’ve been looking at all the maps I can find of this area and none of them provide a name for this. Technically it is a horseshoe bend but it’s not The Horseshoe Bend. The closest named feature is Death Pockets just to the left of here. Maybe Death Bend will work. Let me know if any of you have any ideas.
